Rare Stephen Curry Rookie Card Sells for Insane Price At Auction

Steph Curry is used to setting records, but this one is surely surprising — even for Steph standards.

A rare rookie trading card of the Warriors’ guard resulted in a $616,230 sale (including buyers premium) at an online auction event through Goldin Auctions this week. The result? The card is now the most expensive piece of Steph Curry memorabilia ever sold.

You would think that a game-worn jersey or a signed pair of of his branded shoes might take the honor, but in actuality, the condition of the card is what makes it so pristine. Listed as a 2009/10 Panini National Treasures “Century Gold” Stephen Curry signed patch rookie card, the card is one of only 25 editions ever made. According to Goldin Auctions, the card in particular holds a 9.5 grade out of 10 by BGS.

What makes the card especially rare is a part of Curry’s jersey number that is visible on the patch, giving memorabilia-enthusiasts even more reason to bask in it’s authenticity.

It’s unclear if the selling price of Curry’s card can be attributed to the rise in collector’s items, or just regular old Steph-mania. Either way, Warriors fans are certainly eager for the face of the franchise to return to the court after the six-time All-Star missed all but five games in the 2019-2020 season while recovering from a broken left hand.
